Rhapsody! Rhapsody!

Yesterday’s crossword shuffles its blank spaces

under window-shadows moving like pool-water.

Sunlight comes in diaphanous and golden

ripples, highlighting everything with chance.

My love is ten letters long.

Defender of the people. Butch.

A-l-e-x-a-n-d-r-i-a.

The black spaces assert themselves,

steadfast in their positions.

You, the easiest answer I know,

are milling about the kitchen.

My love, tell me another name for this feeling:

Eight letters across. Effusive and ecstatic.

— Rhapsody! Rhapsody!

NICK ROTONDA is a Pennsylvania based photographer, though his propensity for travel frequently sends him else where. Specializing in film photography Nicks work ranges from scenic landscapes, to quiet and distant subjects, to close encounters with simple moments in nature. Having first picked up a camera only 5 years ago and entirely self taught, Nick is eager to see where his photography will take him next.

NOELLE KRIEGEL is a Masters student at Clemson University, a poet, and long-time lover of all things South Carolina. They are published in Beloved Zine ed 1&2, The Werks Zine, Carolina Muse Vol. 5, and Lunar Journal.
