shoulders sunkissed

& rolled back like

smooth stones to bare

open

my sacred

heart

that night

you take me

out

for a

drive

to catch

the sparks

of failing

stars

on

my pink

tongue

& the taste

of the cosmos

& the wild wind

is sharp

like salt

like nicotine

& the tang

of smooth

blacktop

it’s true

all i’ve ever learned

of love is by spinning

the radio dial

nights like these

counting on the dance

of clutch & transmission

& soaring guitar

to sweep me off my feet
